Nursing Programs at Avila University

Ready to pursue a new career—one that makes a difference for people in your community every day? Avila University is ready to help. Pursue a new career in nursing with our pre-licensure program for individuals who want to change careers.

We offer an Accelerated Bachelor of Science in Nursing (ABSN) for students with 60 or more prior college credits, a non-nursing associate degree, or a non-nursing bachelor’s degree.

In as few as 16 months, you can prepare to provide patient care that respects the whole person, supports individuals, families, and communities, and promotes wellness. You’ll build clinical skills through 60 hours of labs and 585 hours of simulation and direct clinical experience.

You’ll also gain an understanding of nursing research and how it applies to evidence-based practice while developing a foundation of skills for leadership in healthcare organizations, including hospitals, community health organizations, and more.

Graduates of this program will prepare for the National Council Licensure Exam for registered nurses (NCLEX-RN®).

If you’re interested in a more traditional college experience, we also offer an undergraduate Bachelor of Science in Nursing program which can be completed in four years of full-time study. Regardless of the program, Avila’s experienced faculty are there to help ensure students are equipped with the skills they need to start a fulfilling career as a nurse.

For more than 70 years, Avila University’s School of Nursing has been serving Kansas City and the nation by producing nurses known for their clinical competence and leadership skills.
